LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2137, as introduced, Hoge. Gaming clubs: permitted games. Existing law prohibits a gaming club from being located within the territorial limits of any county, city, or city and county which had not permitted gaming clubs prior to January 1, 1984, unless a majority of electors voting thereon approve a ballot measure permitting legal gambling, as specified. Existing law sets forth the form of the question to appear on the ballot. This bill would add to the form of that ballot measure as permitted games 7-card stud, pai gow poker, pai gow, and super pan 9. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no. State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 19819 of the Business and Professions Code is amended to read: 19819. No gaming club shall be located within the territorial limits of any county, city, or city and county which had not permitted gaming clubs prior to January 1, 1984, unless a majority of electors voting thereon affirmatively approve a measure permitting legal gambling within that city, county, or city and county. The question shall appear on the ballot in substantially the following form: "Shall card clubs in which any games permitted by law, such as draw poker, low-ball poker {- and -} {+ , +} panguingue (pan) {+ , seven-card stud, pai gow poker, pai gow, and super pan 9 +} are played be allowed in ____________________________?"
